Hinsdale police arrested a 42-year-old resident on DUI and four other traffic charges the night of Friday, Oct. 30. The arrest was detailed in the department's latest blotter, first reported by Patch.

The man, who lives in the 900 block of Allmen Avenue, was stopped about 10:30 p.m. Police charged him with DUI, improper lane use, speeding, disobeying a traffic signal and improper turn signal. He refused to take a test to determine his blood-alcohol content, according to the blotter. He was given a court date and released.

41 speeding citations in 10 days

The department cited 41 drivers for speeding during a traffic enforcement campaign that ran from Oct. 23 through Nov. 2, according to the blotter. Officers also issued one citation for distracted driving, one for driving without a valid license and six citations for other violations.

The department ran a similar enforcement push over Labor Day weekend. In coverage published in September, The Hinsdalean reported that the holiday campaign produced 61 speeding citations, one DUI arrest, three arrests for driving with a suspended license and three arrests for speeding 35 or more miles per hour over the posted limit.

The Hinsdalean reported that the Labor Day effort was part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiative, funded by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation. Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie said at the time that the campaign helped "make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving."

The department's latest campaign produced fewer speeding citations than the Labor Day effort. The blotter did not specify which streets were targeted or whether the October campaign was grant-funded.

Theft on South Lincoln Street

In a separate incident, someone stole glasses from a vehicle after doing repair work between Oct. 24 and Oct. 26 in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street, according to the blotter.

Hinsdale logged 55 DUI arrests in 2025, according to data from the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists reported by Patch in July. That ranked the village at 2.2 arrests per officer among its 25-member force.
