Hinsdale native Caroline Dolehide won the inaugural NBTX Open in New Braunfels, Texas, on Sunday, Nov. 1, claiming the 10th singles championship of her decade-long professional career.

Dolehide, 28, was in top form all week at the $100,000 USTA Pro Circuit event, dropping just one set across five matches, The Hinsdalean reported. She celebrated the title with a pool plunge alongside the ball kids.

"It was pretty cool to be the first champion of that tournament," Dolehide told The Hinsdalean.

In the final, Dolehide defeated 17-year-old Julieta Pareja 6-4, 6-3, according to WTA Tennis. She beat 16-year-old Kristina Liutova 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.

The victory pushed Dolehide's singles ranking up 50 spots to No. 172. Her doubles ranking sits at No. 131. Her career-high rankings are No. 41 in singles and No. 9 in doubles, according to The Hinsdalean.

A roller-coaster year

The win capped a season defined by injury setbacks and hard-fought comebacks. Dolehide could not play the Australian Open in January. She teamed with Irina Khromacheva in April to win the doubles title at the WTA event in Bogotá, Colombia.

Then a broken toe wiped out her spring clay court season, including the French Open. After a relentless rehab regimen, Dolehide returned for Wimbledon qualifiers in late June. She did not make the main draw but was proud of the effort to get back on court.

The real breakthrough came about a month later. Dolehide won the singles title at The Women's Hospital Classic in Evansville, Ind., another premier USTA Pro Circuit event. It was her first singles trophy in more than three years.

The next week she paired with Alexandra Vagramov to win the doubles title at the Vancouver WTA event.

What's next

Dolehide plans a pickleball fundraiser Nov. 27 in Southern Pines, N.C., to benefit her Serving Chicago Style Foundation, a nonprofit that supports youth sports programs. Details are available at carolinedolehide.com.

"I've always known that I wanted to give back to the next generation with what I do in my tennis career," Dolehide said.

After the holiday break, she heads to Australia to start the 2027 season.
