State Rep. Marti Deuter won reelection Tuesday, Nov. 3, carrying the 45th Illinois House District with 62 percent of the vote.

Deuter, a Democrat and former Elmhurst alderman, collected 25,399 votes to Republican Gina Parrilli's 15,579, according to unofficial results reported by Patch. The district includes all or parts of Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Westmont, among other communities.

The district was considered a battleground as recently as 2024. Deuter's margin this time was nearly 24 points.

From Republican stronghold to Democratic hold

Republicans long held the 45th District seat. The party lost it in 2022, and Deuter won it in 2024 with nearly 54 percent against a Republican opponent. Her wider margin this cycle came as the GOP pulled back financial support for its candidates in the area, according to Patch.

Deuter received about $100,000 from the Democratic Party in the campaign's final weeks. Parrilli, a Westmont village trustee, reported no party contributions and reported donations of about $1,000 in the last quarter.

Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills representation

Deuter was elected to the Illinois House in 2024 after serving on the Elmhurst City Council from 2012 to 2024, according to The Hinsdalean. She is a full-time representative who also serves as a board member of the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau and a director for the Downers Grove Economic Development Corp.

In The Hinsdalean's October candidate questionnaire, Deuter said she had "demonstrated my ability to bring together stakeholders with differing perspectives and pass smart, thoughtful legislation that has my constituents' best interests at heart."

Parrilli, who serves as a Westmont village trustee and works as a business development coordinator, sought the 45th District seat as her first state-level office.

The vote totals remain unofficial pending certification by election authorities.
