Clarendon Hills police arrested two drivers for DUI on Route 83 near 55th Street within roughly 48 hours in late October.

The arrests were among several incidents detailed in Police Chief Edward Leinweber's weekly activity report to Village Manager Paul Dalen, dated Oct. 30.

The first stop came at 2:07 a.m. Oct. 26. Officers pulled over a vehicle heading southbound on Route 83 near 55th Street for speeding. After observing signs of possible alcohol intoxication, officers administered field sobriety tests. The driver was charged with DUI-zero tolerance, illegal transportation of open alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis and speeding, according to the report. The vehicle was towed and the driver was released with a mandatory court date.

At 2:21 a.m. Oct. 28, officers stopped another southbound vehicle at Route 83 near 55th Street for speeding. Officers again observed signs of possible intoxication and administered field sobriety tests. That driver was charged with DUI-alcohol, DUI-BAC over 0.08 and speeding. The vehicle was towed and the driver was released with a mandatory court date.

Neither driver was named.

The department's Oct. 9 weekly report also documented a DUI arrest on southbound Route 83, that one at 1:41 a.m. Oct. 4.

301 Park Ave pre-planning meeting

The weekly report also noted that police staff met with developers of the project at 301 Park Ave for pre-planning and traffic logistics. Representatives from Community Consolidated School District 181 (CCSD 181) were present. The report stated that "several points of concern were discussed" but did not specify what those concerns were.

The Village Board approved a mixed-use development at that site in September 2025, according to the Casselyn Group, a local real estate blog. That project was described as a four-story building with condominiums and street-level retail or commercial space.

The police report did not name the developer involved in the pre-planning meeting.
