Drivers who use I-355 to reach Ogden Avenue will face overnight ramp closures through the fall as the Illinois Tollway repairs pavement across a long stretch of the Veterans Memorial Tollway.

The Ogden Avenue interchange, a key access point for Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills commuters, is one of nine I-355 interchanges where ramps will shut down between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on rotating nights, Shaw Local first reported. The closures allow crews to pour and cure new concrete, the Tollway said in a news release.

The ramp connecting Ogden Avenue to eastbound I-88 is scheduled to close without a posted detour, according to Shaw Local.

Separate ramp closures at the I-355/I-88 and I-355/I-55 interchanges will run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. with posted detours routing traffic to westbound I-88 through the Route 53 interchange and back onto eastbound I-88.

Other interchanges on the closure list include Butterfield Road, Roosevelt Road, 75th Street, 63rd Street, Boughton Road, Maple Avenue, North Avenue and Army Trail Road. The Tollway has not published a calendar of specific closure nights. Electronic message signs and construction signs will alert drivers to detours.

The repair project covers I-355 between I-80 and Army Trail Road in Will, Cook and DuPage counties. Additional work includes CCTV camera installation, lighting repairs, sign installation and pavement marking.

The two sources describing the project's timeline do not fully agree. The Tollway's project page states the 2026 work on I-355 "is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year." Shaw Local, citing the Tollway, reported that repair work is scheduled to continue into 2027. Whether the 2027 reference applies to the broader program or to this specific contract is unclear.

The project falls under the Tollway's seven-year, $2 billion "Bridging the Future" capital plan. Construction is being coordinated with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), DuPage County, Cook County, Will County, the Village of Oak Brook, the Village of Woodridge, the Village of Lemont, DuPage Township, Canadian National Railway and BNSF Railway, according to the Tollway.

All scheduling is weather-dependent. Construction zone speed limits are in effect at all times, even when workers are not present.

The Tollway posts updated closure information daily on its construction alerts page at illinoistollway.com.
