The Hinsdale Central PTO needs baked goods, gift cards and volunteers to pull off its 38th Annual Holiday Bash on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The event is the PTO's largest staff appreciation gathering of the year, according to the organization's website. It transforms the school's Commons Area and Multipurpose Room into what organizers call a "Winter Wonderland."
Teachers and staff dress up for a costume contest, eat hot hors d'oeuvres, browse a sweets table, listen to live music performed by Hinsdale Central music students and enter raffles. Students also get to enjoy the decorations during the darker days of winter, the PTO said.
The PTO covers a significant portion of the event's costs through membership dues. But the organization said it still relies on donated food, gift cards, poinsettias and volunteer hours to make the bash work.
Meraiah Bernacki, the PTO's Holiday Bash chair, is coordinating donations and logistics. Gift cards, poinsettias, water and soda can be delivered directly to Bernacki. Perishable and fresh food items should be dropped off on carts inside the Grant Street Door Entrance by 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 2. Carts will be available starting at 6:30 a.m.
Donors will be acknowledged on a big screen and on table displays at the event.
Families with questions can reach Bernacki at [email protected]. Donation and volunteer sign-ups are available through the PTO's committee page.
