Hinsdale native Andrew Gutman earned his seventh career Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday honor after assisting the opening goal in Chicago Fire FC's 1-1 draw with Inter Miami CF on Sept. 9.

The club announced the selection Sept. 10, marking Gutman's third Matchday nod of the 2026 season. Homegrown goalkeeper Chris Brady also made the squad.

Gutman created the goal early. He beat his defender wide along the left flank in the 10th minute and delivered a cross to the far post. Robert Lewandowski met it with a volley to give Chicago the lead in front of a club-record crowd of 63,094.

The selection followed Gutman's second Matchday honor of the season, announced Aug. 17 by MLS, for a long-ball assist on teammate Robin Lod's opening goal in a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers at Soldier Field. His first 2026 nod came May 23 for scoring the game-winner against Toronto FC.

Gutman, a Fire Academy product who grew up in Hinsdale, plays wingback and wears No. 15. The Chicago Tribune reported in October 2025 that he has been around the Fire organization since his days at Hinsdale Central.

The Fire (11-7-6, 39 points) sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference after falling 2-1 to the New England Revolution on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Soldier Field. Chicago trails fourth-place Charlotte by one point and leads Orlando City SC by five.

Gregg Berhalter's squad, chasing a second straight MLS Cup Playoffs berth, heads to Nashville SC on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff at GEODIS Park is set for 8:30 p.m. CT.
