Hinsdale police reported a shoplifting, a fraudulent check attempt and a DUI arrest in the department's Sept. 15 blotter.

Cosmetics stolen from Grant Square Walgreens

Surveillance video captured a person stealing cosmetic products around 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Walgreens at 15 Grant Square. The theft was not reported to police until three days later. No suspect description has been released, and the case is pending.

Fraudulent check presented at US Bank

Someone attempted to cash a fraudulent check using a victim's bank account information around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at US Bank, 21 W. Second St. The crime was reported the following day. Police have not said whether the attempt succeeded. That case is also pending.

The fraud attempt is the latest in a string of bank-related crimes in the village. A prior blotter released Sept. 9 included fraudulent ATM transactions at Chase Bank and forged checks drawn on a separate resident's account, both spanning mid-August through early September.

Oak Lawn man charged with DUI at Ogden and York

A 41-year-old Oak Lawn man faces charges of driving under the influence, speeding 26 to 34 mph over the limit, improper lane use and driving an uninsured vehicle after an arrest around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Ogden Avenue and York Road. The man refused blood-alcohol testing. He was given a court date and released.

Hinsdale police have maintained a focus on impaired driving enforcement. Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie said in an Aug. 27 announcement that the department would patrol "with zero tolerance for impaired driving" during the statewide Labor Day campaign.

A separate DUI arrest occurred at Ogden Avenue and Madison Street on Aug. 31, involving a 42-year-old Bolingbrook man charged with DUI, obstructing identification and driving with a revoked license, according to a Sept. 3 police blotter.
