The Hinsdale Public Library's renovation is in its final stretch, with the project still on pace to wrap up by the end of 2026.

"We've entered the home stretch," John Kokoris, the library's marketing and outreach manager, wrote in an Oct. 22 column in The Hinsdalean. "Our lobby is nearly complete, new study rooms are open, and our beautiful new board room and meeting room can once again be reserved."

The library is now working mostly on the teen and flexible programming spaces, Kokoris wrote. Additional shelving and furniture are expected to arrive later this fall.

No specific completion date for the teen and programming spaces has been announced. The total project cost has not been publicly confirmed.

Free digital tools for cardholders

While construction continues, the library is spotlighting digital resources available free to anyone with a Hinsdale Public Library card.

Cardholders can access the New York Times crossword, Spelling Bee and other word games through the library's website. Kokoris, who commutes from Berwyn, called the crossword part of his daily routine.

The library's Kanopy streaming app offers documentaries, international films and themed collections. Kokoris highlighted several Halloween-season picks, including the "Crypt Collection" and a zombie set Kanopy calls "Braaaaains," along with a "Gothic Tales and Legends" collection featuring 1920s classics "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and "Nosferatu."

Library credentials also unlock a free New York Times account with access to thousands of recipes and New York Times Wirecutter product reviews. Consumer Reports is available through the library's digital collection as well.

Residents can browse the full list of digital resources on the Hinsdale Public Library's website.
