The Hinsdale Farmers Market opens at 7 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Burlington Park, kicking off a week of America 250 programming in and around the village.
The market, in its 50th anniversary season, runs every Monday through October 12 along Chicago Avenue between Garfield and Washington streets, organized by the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce. Vendors line the park with fresh produce and local goods from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burlington Park already holds a place in Hinsdale's anniversary story. Village President Greg Hart said on X that he represented Hinsdale at DuPage County's America 250 Time Capsule Ceremony on Tuesday, June 9, contributing a rendering of the planned Burlington Park Pavilion, a signed proclamation outlining the community's celebration plans, and a historic photograph.
Free patriotic concert Wednesday in Glen Ellyn
The week's biggest America 250 event for west suburban residents is a free outdoor concert by the Chicago Brass Band on Wednesday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center's Lakeside Pavilion, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. The 30-member ensemble will perform a patriotic Americana program. The MAC said the concert opens its 250th anniversary of America programming series.
Veterans can call the MAC Box Office at (630) 942-4000 for complimentary VIP seating. The pavilion opens 90 minutes before showtime. Picnicking is welcome; attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations for the Glen House Food Pantry and COD Student Fuel Pantry. No outside alcohol is permitted.
The MAC's free outdoor "Walking with Giants" exhibition, 10 painted silhouette sculptures each about 10 feet tall honoring figures including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Dolly Parton and Lin-Manuel Miranda, remains on view through Sunday, October 18.
