Hinsdale residents interested in running for mayor, village clerk, treasurer or alderman now have a path to the ballot.

Nomination packets for the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election became available Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Village Hall, 19 E. Chicago Ave. The packets can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Six seats are up for election: mayor, clerk, treasurer and alderman in Wards 2, 4 and 6.

The clock is ticking.

Under Illinois election law, Aug. 25 marked the first day candidates may legally circulate nominating petitions for the spring consolidated election. The filing window for completed nomination papers runs Nov. 16 through Nov. 23, 2026. Candidates must file with Village Clerk Emily Tompkins at Village Hall.

Candidates for mayor, clerk and treasurer must be qualified electors who have lived in Hinsdale for at least one year before the election. Aldermanic candidates must have resided in the ward they seek to represent for at least one year.

As we reported Tuesday, District 181 school board candidates also began circulating petitions the same day. The municipal races represent a separate slate of offices governing village operations, public works, zoning and the village budget under Village President Greg Hart.

No candidates have publicly announced for any of the six seats as of Wednesday, Aug. 26. The Hinsdale Journal will report candidate announcements as they are filed.
