Hinsdale South lost its season opener to Wauconda 32-21 after a social-media feud between the two programs spilled onto the field.

Senior running back and linebacker Jonathan Mansker posted a TikTok before the game rating cheerleaders from teams on the Hornets' schedule. The video gained thousands of likes within hours, the South Stinger reported. It also drew complaints. People emailed the school's athletic director, coaching staff and Mansker himself, demanding the video be removed and the students punished.

Mansker took the video down at Coach Jarrod Amolsch's request but later reposted it. He told the Stinger the video was not aimed at Wauconda specifically.

"[It] wasn't really targeted towards Wauconda or anything … I didn't think it was bad or anything," Mansker said.

According to Mansker, a Wauconda-affiliated Instagram account called Wauconda Barstool had posted photos of South players first. Senior captain Leon Gonzalez, a guard and defensive end, said the account targeted players and their parents. The Stinger reported that Wauconda Barstool declined to comment.

The coaching staff gave the team a warning and extra running as a consequence. Gonzalez called the situation "two-sided" and said the punishment reflected that.

Gonzalez said he wished Wauconda's captains good luck at the pre-game meeting, but tensions held. Both sides played more aggressively, with increased taunting from the stands, according to the Stinger's account. Gonzalez alleged Wauconda players blocked after the whistle and double-teamed Mansker. Gonzalez said he was also targeted, including having his leg illegally picked up. No independent game report or Wauconda response to those allegations is available.

The Hornets kept the game close through the first half but faded after multiple players cramped. The 32-21 final extended Wauconda's streak to four straight season-opening wins over Hinsdale South, according to Shaw Local's preseason preview. Wauconda went 9-1 in 2025 with five consecutive playoff appearances. Hinsdale South finished 2-7.

The Hornets hosted Riverside-Brookfield in Week 2 on Saturday, Aug. 29.
