Hinsdale South's online registration for the 2026 fall sports season opens Wednesday, July 15, and any student-athlete who hasn't completed the paperwork before the first practice will be watching from the sideline.
Hinsdale Central's registration portal is already active. Between the two schools, 62 competitive athletic programs will field teams this fall in football, soccer, cross country, volleyball, golf, and tennis. Every one of those rosters requires the same three things from every participant before day one.
Three requirements, no exceptions
According to both schools' athletics departments, students must complete all three steps before their first day of participation:
- A current physical on file. At Hinsdale Central, physicals go to the Athletic Office. At Hinsdale South, freshmen file theirs with the Nurse's Office; all other students file with the Athletic Office.
- Online registration for the specific sport season. Hinsdale Central athletes register at hinsdalecentral.8to18.com. Hinsdale South athletes register at hinsdalesouth.8to18.com.
- The IHSA CPR/AED video viewed at ihsa.org.
The physical must be performed by a licensed physician (MD or DO), physician's assistant, or advanced nurse practitioner. Once signed, the IHSA Pre-Participation Examination Form is valid for 395 days. Families can download the form at central.hinsdale86.org/athletics/forms-and-documents.
District 86's Program of Studies advises incoming freshmen to complete their physical by Wednesday, July 1, ahead of book purchases in August. For upperclassmen returning to a sport, the same annual requirement applies each year of participation.
When is the exact deadline?
IHSA rules require physicals and registration to be completed before the first fall practice. Lyons Township High School District 204 posted Monday, August 3 as its fall sports registration cutoff. District 86 has not published a specific deadline date on its athletics pages. Families should contact their school's athletic office directly to confirm the cutoff for Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South.
Student-athletes must also maintain passing grades in at least five classes per week during their season to remain eligible under IHSA and District 86 rules.
