A three-story home at 119 West 3rd Street in Hinsdale sold Aug. 11 for $1.3 million, according to property records reported by Shaw Local.

The 3,119-square-foot house, built in 2000, traded at $417 per square foot. It sits on an 8,712-square-foot lot and includes a fireplace, central air conditioning and space for two cars.

At $417 per square foot, the sale came in below every nearby comparable in the data.

How nearby sales compare

A 1,080-square-foot home at 211 West 4th Street sold in April 2025 for $735,000, or $681 per square foot. A single-family home at 408 South Washington Street sold in July 2025 for $1.57 million, or $646 per square foot. A home at 440 South Grant Street sold in April for $1.67 million, or $482 per square foot.

Farther from the 3rd Street block, a four-bedroom house at 738 Woodland Avenue sold July 10 for $1.35 million, or $605 per square foot. That 2,233-square-foot home, built in 1959, sits on 0.6 acres. A five-bedroom home at 708 Woodland Avenue sold in June for $1.3 million, or $479 per square foot.

At the top of the market, a six-bedroom home at 132 South Park Avenue sold July 2 for $5.3 million, or $551 per square foot. The 9,612-square-foot home was built in 2008.

What the numbers mean for the block

Smaller homes on the same blocks commanded higher per-square-foot prices. The 3rd Street house, the largest among the nearby comparables, posted the lowest rate.

Through February, roughly six months before the 3rd Street closing, the trailing 12-month median detached sale price in Hinsdale was $1,425,000 with a 98.9 percent list-to-sale ratio, according to a Second City Agents market analysis. The 3rd Street sale, at $1.3 million, landed below that median.

The buyer's name and the terms of the sale were not available in public records reviewed for this story.

Hinsdale carries the highest median property tax bill in DuPage County at $14,400, with an effective rate of 1.67 percent for the average homeowner, according to the same analysis. No Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals or Village Board items tied to this address are scheduled for the coming week.
