The Village Board recognized Hinsdale Central student Isa Ibrahim at its July meeting for completing service as a U.S. Senate Page, one of only 30 positions available to high school students across the country.
Village President Greg Hart shared the news on X on Saturday, July 25, writing that Ibrahim made the entire community proud. Hart said the appointment is an extraordinary honor available to just 30 students nationally and thanked Ibrahim for representing Hinsdale on the national stage.

The recognition took place at what the Village's 2026 meeting schedule lists as the Tuesday, July 21 Board of Trustees meeting at Memorial Hall, 19 E. Chicago Ave. Official minutes from that meeting have not yet been posted by the Village.
What the Senate Page Program requires
Senate Pages are high school juniors, typically 16 or 17 years old, sponsored by individual U.S. senators. Only 30 positions are available per session across all 100 senators, according to the U.S. Senate's official program website.
Pages live at the Daniel Webster Senate Page Residence on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Their academic day starts at 6 a.m. at the Senate Page School before they report to the Senate floor, where they deliver legislative materials, prepare the chamber for sessions, and assist during roll call votes. Pages are paid an annualized salary of approximately $37,238 to $38,547, according to information posted by U.S. senators' offices.
The program dates to 1829, when Sen. Daniel Webster sponsored the first Senate Page, making it one of the oldest student government programs in the country.
Details still pending
Hart's post did not identify which Illinois senator sponsored Ibrahim's appointment or which session he served. The Village has not published minutes from the July 21 meeting, so it remains unclear whether Ibrahim attended in person or whether a formal proclamation was issued. Residents can request meeting records through the Village Clerk's office under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140).
