Hinsdale residents who want to size up their next DuPage County Board representative can do so at a free candidate forum Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Wheaton.

The Alliance of Latinos Motivating Action in the Suburbs, known as ALMAS, is hosting "Meet the Candidates: DuPage County" at the DuPage County Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Road. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and combines an open-house candidate fair in the building's Atrium with three moderated forums in the Auditorium, according to the event listing on Patch.

The forum most relevant to Hinsdale falls last on the schedule. Forum 3, covering Districts 3 and 5, runs from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. Most of Hinsdale sits in District 3, where the seat held by Kari Galassi expires in December 2026, according to the DuPage County Board member page. That means the District 3 race will be on the November ballot.

All six County Board districts are covered across the three forums. Forum 1 (5:45 to 6:30 p.m.) covers Districts 2 and 4. Forum 2 (6:45 to 7:30 p.m.) covers Districts 1 and 6. Each panel is moderated by a trained ALMAS representative with equal speaking time for every candidate.

The Atrium fair runs the full three hours. Every invited candidate gets a table to meet voters one-on-one and share campaign materials. All candidates for the participating DuPage County races were invited, though the organizers have not published a list of who accepted.

Spanish interpretation will be available for the forums. Residents can submit questions in advance by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Question for DuPage Candidate Forum."

ALMAS President Dr. Lili Burciaga urged residents to attend in an Aug. 28 press release, calling it an opportunity to engage with candidates ahead of the November election.

All visitors must pass through security screening at the 421 Main Entrance. Parking is in the 421 South Lot.

What Hinsdale voters should know

District 3 covers most of Hinsdale. Galassi, who represents District 3, won the seat in November 2022, according to The Hinsdalean. Her term expires Dec. 7, 2026. The exact boundary between District 3 and neighboring districts has not been confirmed by a current map in the materials available for this article.

Residents who cannot attend can still participate by emailing questions to [email protected] before the event.
