Hinsdale Central's boys golf team edged host Benet Academy by a single stroke to win the Class 3A Benet Regional at Naperbrook Golf Course on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Red Devils carded a 290 team score in a constant drizzle, holding off Benet (291) and Downers Grove South (295). All three teams advance to sectionals.

Junior Michael Jorski and senior Blaze Burt tied for second individually, one shot behind Benet freshman Will Comiskey, who fired a 2-under-par 70 to claim the individual title, as first reported by Shaw Local.

Jorski's round told the story of the day. He made double bogey on his first hole, then rattled off 11 straight pars before closing with three birdies over his final six holes.

Jorski said the team's main goal is reaching state. He said the Red Devils will see Benet again at sectionals and hopes the result looks similar.

The program has won eight state titles since 2013, the most recent in 2024. Last season, the Red Devils finished first at sectionals and sixth at state.

The drizzle at times turned heavy Sept. 30, saturating the course and greens. Under adjusted rules, any ball on the green was subject to a maximum two-putt. Jorski said the conditions forced a conservative approach, with players aiming for the middle of the green rather than attacking pins.

Burt, a two-time state team member, has been a steady presence in the lineup all season. Head coach Serge Penksik described Burt in The Hinsdalean's student-athlete profile as "a very steady and consistent player … a funny guy on the bus."

Four Red Devils finished among the top 16 scorers at the regional. Hinsdale Central had taken second at the West Suburban Conference Silver Championship on Sept. 24, one stroke behind York.

Lyons Township shot 296 as a team, one stroke short of advancing. Downers Grove North finished fifth at 298. Lyons senior Grayson Lee shot an even-par 72 to tie for fourth and qualified individually for sectionals.
