How Gower compares

Simon's $312,063 was the highest superintendent salary among three area districts that released 2025-26 compensation data this month.

At neighboring Cass School District 63 in Darien, Superintendent Mark Cross earned $243,713 before retiring at the end of the school year, according to Patch's Darien report. Cass 63 serves about 800 students. Gower 62 serves about 940.

At Hinsdale High School District 86, Superintendent Michael Lach earned $263,670 in 2025-26 before retiring on June 30, according to Patch's Hinsdale report.

Top teacher pay also varied across the three districts. Hoffman's $142,127 at Gower fell between Cass 63's highest-paid teacher, Pamela Worth, at $127,412 and District 86's highest-paid teacher, John Charters, at $186,984. Charters, an English teacher at Hinsdale South High School, also retired at the end of the school year.

The Patch report noted that some employees on the Gower list may have since retired or moved to other positions.
