Hinsdale homeowners will receive their annual property assessment notices starting in August, and DuPage County locked in who's printing them on Tuesday.

The DuPage County Finance Committee on Tuesday, July 14, approved a $95,000 contract renewal with Mail Services LLC to produce and send assessment mailers to every property owner in the county, including Hinsdale homeowners in York Township. The mailers notify residents of their assessed property value and explain how to file an appeal with the DuPage County Board of Review.

The contract covers Aug. 8, 2026, through Aug. 7, 2027. It is the second and final renewal option under bid #23-077-TRES. Member Yeena Yoo moved to approve; Member Sadia Covert seconded.

Why it matters to Hinsdale

Those mailers start the clock. Under DuPage County rules, property owners have 30 days after their township assessment roll is published to file an appeal arguing their assessed value overstates market value. Miss the window, and you're locked in for the year.

For Hinsdale homeowners who already paid their first property tax installment on June 1 and face a second installment due Monday, Sept. 1, the assessment notice is the one shot to challenge the number before next year's bill is calculated.

What else the committee did

The 22-minute meeting, called to order at 8 a.m. with no public comment, also approved:

  • Routine budget transfers, including a $19,500 transfer to cover Work Based Learning Intern expenses and the closure of a $35,272.88 purchase order to World Relief for an expired contract.
  • A $27,983 contract renewal with Endeavor Health Edward Hospital for county employee health screenings, covering July 18, 2026, through July 17, 2027.
  • A resolution authorizing the sale of DuPage County Sheriff's Office inventory to Wheaton College.
  • Acceptance of three Illinois Department of Human Services grants totaling $313,830 for community services programs.

Finance Committee Chair Sam Garcia told members that FY2027 budgets have been received from all county departments and are under review. Member Galassi asked whether the County Clerk's Office had submitted its budget. "A budget was submitted and is in review," Garcia confirmed.
