Dr. Josh McMahon starts as District 86's Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment on Tuesday, July 1, stepping into a role that already has concrete changes lined up for fall at Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South.
McMahon, a Hinsdale resident who currently oversees curriculum at Morton High School District 201, signed a two-year contract at $216,000 for 2026-27.
Here's what the board has already approved for the coming school year:
- Gradebook standardization: Courses with the same name at both high schools will carry identical gradebook categories and weights for the first time.
- English novels: $97,428.70 in new instructional materials split between both schools.
- Imagine Learning renewal: $60,610 at a reduced cost under a revised pricing structure.
- NoRedInk: Three-year contract at $21,173 per year.
Superintendent Dr. Chip Pettit, who took over June 4 after the board accelerated his start date by nearly a month, and Chief Information Officer Michael Swanson round out the new leadership team arriving by July 1.
The District 86 Board of Education meets Thursday, June 25, for its last regular session before the full team is in place.
